Advertising Specifications

STANDARD UNITS

Looping/Replays must be user initiated after 20 seconds
All files submitted as .swf’s should be submitted with a backup image
(.gif or .jpeg) and have their button coded with the following actionscript:

}
All audio must be user-initiated and have a mute button
All ads must be clickable and adhere to The HealthCentral Network’s
content policies
All creative should be sent to traffic@thcn.com

RICH MEDIA

Expansion panels must have intuitive close functionality. Close button
must be on top of the panel or the user must be able to rolloff to close
Host-initiated expandable creatives are only allowed on a per approval
basis
Video must have pause, play and mute controls and should be
user-initiated. In addition, stop and rewind (start over) are preferred.
Max 30 seconds.
Video cannot automatically start; should begin only upon user-initiation
and audio must be click to start
Video must be engineered to load politely after content on the page has
loaded
All redirect tags that are not in one of the following formats must be
submitted with instructions on how to properly track clicks and
impressions: DFA, Atlas, Pointroll
All polite loading video creatives must be built by a third party vendor,
i.e. Pointroll, Eyeblaster, Klipmart, Dart Motif
Floating ads are only available on a select amount of inventory
10 sec floating time for floating ads
Floating ads must have close button functionaility
Floating and Foldover units must be created in Pointroll or Dart Motif
Foldover units must have visible close button
THCN will handle frequency capping of floating ad units
All creative must be approved by THCN

VIDEO AD SPECIFICATIONS

Pre-roll

Please submit your :10, :12, :15 or :30 preroll commercial on any conventional video format (Beta, BetaSP, Mini DV, DVC Pro, etc.) for digital conversion to the following address:

Companion Ad Units

FORMATS: Flash, .gif and .jpg
These units are 300x250 in dimension. Each unit must have an image file,
.gif or .jpg, submitted with the appropriate click-through URL. The image file can
be no bigger than 30 KB. In addition to this, the advertiser may submit these with
Flash versions. In this case they should be submitted according to the specs
below:

Please submit Flash 6 or above
Advertiser must provide both .swf and .gif versions of creative
Size: up to 30 KB
URL: Please use a clickTAG as a way to keep the URL outside of the creative

Animation can only last 20 seconds

If the companion banner is going to be submitted as a rich media tag, it must be
pre-approved if it is not from either Doubleclick or Atlas

This unit is a 468x60 unit that runs below the 300x250 inside of the player

Tracking

Third party ad tags accepted for tracking:
Video impression tracking: Use a 1x1 pixel/dot tracker
Video click tracking: Include URL to track clicks on the video click region
(Hot-Spot)

All files have to be submitted 7 business days before launch to ensure
a timely start
